Instagram Separates New Likes on Posts, Adds Unfollower Stats for Creator Accounts

This would be a small, but helpful addition. According to a new finding by reverse engineering expert Jane Manchun Wong, Instagram is testing out an option that would separate new and old likes on your posts, helping you to more easily see the latest activity, and take action on the same. As you can see in the above screenshot, the Likes listing is separated into ‘New and ‘Earlier’ sections, helping to distinguish the latest activity. The functionality has reportedly been in testing on Android for the last few months, but would be new for iOS, if rolled out. The option could make it easier for businesses to ensure they’re tracking the latest activity, helping to glean more insight about who their posts are appealing to, while also providing a chance to respond or interact with individual users based on their interest. It would be a small update, but a helpful one, especially for those seeking to maximize their strategy, enabling more insight into the specific audience appeal of each post. Along a similar line, Instagram Creator accounts now have access to a new chart of followers and unfollowers, helping to provide additional context on account performance.
First spotted by user Talal Alsardy (and shared by Matt Navarra), the new option adds additional context to your Instagram performance analytics. It's only available on Instagram Creator accounts, and not a feature on regular business accounts as yet, but it would be beneficial there also, and could be ported across to business insights at some stage in future. Instagram is constantly tweaking and updating its tools, and while these particular additions are fairly minor in the broader scheme, it's interesting to see where the platform is focusing, and in what areas Instagram sees potential for improvement. Both of these updates would provide significant benefit, with the unfollowers chart also looking like a potentially great addition for Instagram business analytics moving forward.
